Photos of Medinet Habu

Medinet Habu is the Arabic name for the Mortuary Temple of Ramses III. Ramses himself considered it his "House of Millions of Years". The ancient Egyptian name was Djamet, which meant "males and mothers". Medinet Habu contains more than 75,000 square feet of decorated surfaces on its walls, much of it still retaining its original color.

The front facade of Medinet Habu is carved with enormous figures and heiroglyphs.

Medinet Habu is surrounded by the desert mountains, home of the Valley of the Kings.

Inside Medinet Habu there are many large columns beautifully carved with figures and heiroglyphs, still in excellent condition.

Much of the original color is still present in the columns and ceilings within Medinet Habu.
